Fans of the popular motoring show Top Gear where devastated earlier this year by the loss of its three stars, Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond, following Clarkson’s controversial sacking. The show was not cancelled, though, and the BBC bought in veteran TV presenter and supercar enthusiast Chris Evans. After a long wait, his new co-presenters have been announced.

Joining Evan’s for the shows planned return in May 2016 are motoring journalist Chris Harris, “Queen of the Nurburgring” Sabine Schmitz and former F1 driver David Coulthard. Chris Harris may be known to the keener car enthusiasts, thanks to his you tube series’, but is unlikely to be recognised by the wider public. Likewise, Sabine Schmitz may be recognised from her appearance on the show back in 2004 but is far from a household name. That leaves David Coulthard, who has a fair bit of presenting experience thanks to his time on the BBC’s F1 coverage.

This new line up is significantly more driver focused than before, which is an understandable move from the producers who would find it pretty tough to match the popularity of the outgoing presenters.
