If you have a second hand car that you wish to sell, you need to consider how much Mot is left on it. An MOT can be carried out a month early to preserve the MOT renewal date, actually giving you a total of 13 months MOT before it is due again, but before this an MOT can still be done, it just means you will lose the remainder that was on the previous one.
When selling it car it is advisable to sell it with as much MOT as possible as you are likely to sell it quicker and to get more money for it. Cars with 3 or less months of MOT tend to put people off as they worry that they may have to fork out a lot of money in only a few months to get it road worthy.
If your car has little MOT left then you need to find out how much it will cost to get it through. You may already be aware of somethings that need to be done, but it is still advisable to get a pre MOT done. This will tell you the likely points the car will fail on (if any), you can then get quotes for the work and see if it will add to the value of the car. If the car is old and high mileage then you may not want to spend the money on it, in this case you will need to state in the advert that it has little MOT but you have reduced the price to reflect this, but be prepared to be haggled down further.
