Often when driving we may notice a noise that we are not familiar with. You may not be certain where it is coming from but often realise that it was not there before and that can often make people instantly panic.
To try and establish where it is coming from you should try and see if you’re driving affects the noise (when safe to do so) i.e speed up / slow down, turn etc to see if it makes a difference. If for example the noise only happens when you turn in one direction this can help the mechanic pinpoint the issue more accurately often saving you time and money.
Be aware that sometimes driving on a different road surface can make it sound like there are odd noises coming from your car. This may happen if you are driving on a route you have not taken before and can often happen on uneven roads or when driving across large bridges that have joints in them.
If the noise is loud and concerns you at all then it is advisable to pull over as soon as you possibly can and have a good look round your car paying particular attention to the wheels and exhaust as these are often common causes.
