If you want to increase the size of the wheel, for example, putting 18” alloys on a car that has 16” alloys as standard then this can greatly affect the handling and steering of the vehicle. It can also affect the accuracy of the speedometer. Often if you put larger alloys on then the speedometer will be slightly more accurate as they tend to under estimate the speed you are doing, but be wary of this if you are going through speed cameras as a few MPH over and you can get done.

One point that people tend to forget is that when you come to purchase new tyre, these will be more expensive as the bigger they are the cost increases. You will also need to inform your insurance company of the change of wheel which will almost certainly carry an increase in premium.
