Overall if you are looking to not spend much year to year on a vehicle then buying a new car is really only the best way to do this. Used cars carry a lot of risk as you do not know how they have been maintained and even if it has been well looked after, something drastic could go wrong within days of you driving it away. If you do go for a used car then you should try and find one with a warranty but be sure to check what this covers as often unless it is bought from a main dealer, the cover is pretty limited.
