Car radiators are often prone to leaks, this can be for a number of reasons but often it is due to hitting a bird or other animal or stones flying up and damaging it. If you notice that your car is overheating then you should immediately pull over and inspect the coolant level. If there is little of no coolant in the bottle, be sure to top it up immediately before continuing on your journey, this is why it is advisable to always keep a bottle of water in your car.

Often if there is a coolant leak, it is coming from the radiator. Once you have the car back home you can then start to inspect for leaks by putting water in to the coolant system and seeing if you can visually spot the water dripping out. If there is a leak and it’s coming from the radiator, you may not have to fork out for a new one just yet. There are some products on the market that claim to fix leaks by plugging them with the solution once it sets. These only work for small leaks, and may not be a permanent fix but may be just enough to see you through over the next couple of months.
