Checking your service schedule

Every car has a service schedule. This is a schedule that the manufactures lays out when the car is produced. Historically most cars needed servicing every 10,000 miles or every year on average but recent years have seen a change with many cars now having long life servicing. Some cars now only need to be serviced every 2-3 years making the costs a lot less for the owners.

Always check your own cars individual service plan to see when it should be done. There is also usually a routine service and then a main service too.

Servicing a vehicle is vital to keep it well maintained. Although it will not pick up on all mechanical issues, it can often cause problems before they occur and also help the car to be more efficient.

If your car is in warranty then you will need to take it to a main dealer or a garage that uses genuine parts to ensure the warranty is not invalidated.
