When you own a car you need to ensure that you look after it to try and retain as much of the value of it as possible. It may be that you have owned the car from new so will have a better chance of retaining the value than having bought a car second hand which may have already been damaged, not serviced on time etc.

If you do cause damage to your car it is worth getting it repaired as soon as possible to ensure the damage does not get any worse such as rust. Make sure that the service schedule is kept up to date and that you take it to a reputable garage to carry out the service. If the car is still under warranty you may need to have the car serviced at a main dealer or at least ensure that genuine parts are used should you chose to have the service carried out elsewhere.
