It’s that dreaded time of the year when your Mot is approaching. It often seems to be around this time that you start to find faults on the car and worry what may come up during the routine MOT inspection. You ca have an MOT done up to a month early and still preserve the anniversary date, meaning that you can actually have 13 months MOT. Doing this is a good idea as you will have a month to rectify any issues that need to be fixed before it runs out of MOT. If the car fails the MOT then you have ten working days in which to get the repairs done and take it back to the garage, within this time you may only be charged for a partial retest, although many garages do not charge at all. After this time you will have to pay for a full MOT test again.

Before the MOT is due, spend some time going round the car and find out what they may fail you on. Check small components that are relatively easy to replace such as all bulbs, windscreen wipers and fluid levels. You should also check the tyres and if possibly the brakes. If you are happy that all of that is in good working order then your car is ready for the MOT test.
