Often car parts are a huge cost for drivers and the average driver can spend in excess of five hundred pounds a year on parts alone. With this in mind, it is no wonder that more and more people are looking to find and purchase parts for their vehicle themselves.
Car parts can be expensive especially if you get them from the main dealer when often non genuine parts will do the job just as well. You can chose to buy car parts second hand but there is always a risk involved if buying something that you cannot see working or have no idea really where it came from. You will need to be able to know exactly what part it is you need and what you need to look out for in terms of wear and tear or damage if buying second hand.
If you can, obtain a few quotes of buying the parts yourself and then contact the garage and ask them to quote for the work. Do not be afraid to ask for a break down of the price. If the parts seem to be a lot more expensive than you have been quoted, then you could ask the garage if they would be willing to fit the parts if you can supply them. Many smaller garages will do this but will not put any kind of warranty on the part.
