Home > Garages > Does your garage door need replacing?

As strange as it may sound the appearance of the garage door at your home may be damaging to the overall look of the property. A shabby, garage door which has flaky paint and is dented can give the impression that the whole property is in need of attention. Sometimes a quick coat of paint is all that is needed to rectify this but sometimes the door is so badly damaged that it is necessary to replace the old door with a new one.

When choosing a new garage door, it is important to think about how you and your family use the garage. For example, do you need a garage door with a pedestrian door so that you do not need to open the main garage door if you do not need to?

Once you have decided on the style of door either up and over, roller shutter or side hinged it is time to consider the garage door material. This is often down to personal choice but may also be about the style of the property as older properties often have wooden garage doors fitted. Steel garage doors are probably the most common, are weather resistant and although often come with a powder coated finish can be painted a different colour to match other doors on the property.
