With fuel prices still at a high (especially diesel) many drivers are looking at ways in which they can reduce their usage and save a bit of money. One way in which you can cut your fuel bill is to buy your fuel at the lowest price you can. You may want to shop around to find out prices before you head off to fill up but do not be temped to drive too far to just save a few pence as it will often actually work out more expensive.

Your driving style can also have a big impact on how much fuel you use. If you have a car that shows you the instant miles per gallon – then you can see how to drive economically. Trying not to accelerate too hard and driving at a constant speed will help along with not driving too fast. You also need to make sure that you drive in the right gear. Driving in a gear that is too low will cause the engine to rev higher. The higher the revs the more fuel it will use.  Some cars will even show you what gear you should be in to get the most miles per gallon. As well as what gear you should be in. Some cars also tell you to slow down if you are driving too fast in eco mode.
