Many car insurance companies reply on the fact that some people will let their insurance renew without shopping around for prices. Even if you have not had any claims or convictions in the last 12 months, you may be surprised to find that your car insurance quote has gone up or is the same even though you have an additional years no claims.
When your renewal date for your car insurance is approaching, it is important to take time to search around for the best policy price. You may do this through comparison sites such as Go Compare or Compare the Market or you may decide to do this manually. Not all insurers will display their prices on comparison sites so you may need to do a combination of both if you really want to obtain the best price.
Once you have obtained some quotes it is important to check what is included in the price. Some will include hire car or courtesy car cover, key cover, personal accident and legal expenses cover and possibly breakdown cover. You can often add these to other policies if it doesn’t come as standard.
Another thing to check is the excess. You may find a cheaper policy but the excess is really high so you will need to decide whether you take the risk.
