Owning a car can be very costly. It is not only the day to day running costs that you have to take in to account but it is the unexpected costs that crop up from time to time. It is important to get or done as soon as possible as often if you delay getting something fixed it can turn in to something much more costly in the end.

Services are not required by law but should be done in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines. If the car is still under warranty then you will need to have the services done using the genuine parts in order to not invalidate the warranty.

Often you may not be aware of repairs that need to be done until you go for an MOT. This can highlight a number of issues which will need to be rectified before the car can pass the MOT and be driven on the roads again. Some of these issues can be picked up in a service, which will give you time to rectify them prior to the MOT. Once the car has failed the MOT, it should be repaired and retested immedialty. Sometimes the work that needs to be done will be classed as dangerous so you will not be able to drive it away. If you can drive it as the MOT has expired and the repairs required are only minor you need to check that your insurance is still valid.
