Many of us dread that time of year when the Mot test for your vehicle is nearly due. MOT tests are not usually that expensive ranging from about £30 to £60 but often problems have highlighted that need to be fixed in order to obtain your MOT test certificate and these problems can be costly.
On Sunday 27th May 2018 there are new rules coming in to play regarding the MOT tests. These will see a lot more vehicles fail and more drivers being told they cannot drive their car at all until repairs have been done. If you drive a diesel car then the government are clamping down even more on emissions and you may discover that your vehicle is one of the ones that doesn’t make the grade.
A wider range of a vehicle’s parts will also be tested including the tyres, to check if they are underinflated; the brake fluid, to investigate if it has been contaminated; and fluid leaks, to make sure they do not pose an environmental risk.
You need to prepare your car prior to a Mot test to have the best chance of passing. Check your fluid levels, tyres and lights to ensure that they are all working as they should be to eliminate any silly errors that may result in a failure.
